Jeff Simmons, OD, MBA

Dr. Simmons is a local native, born and raised in Cottonwood Heights. He attended Brighton High school, received his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Utah State University and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr. Simmons completed clinical rotations at the Quantico Marine base in Quantico, VA, the Northern Indiana VA hospital in Fort Wayne, IN as well as the Eye Institute of Utah in Salt Lake City.


Dr. Simmons started in the profession as an optician and then as an Associate Instructor for the Ophthalmic Optics course at IU. Dr. Simmons has a  deep understanding of optics and the importance of high quality lenses and precision in providing patients with clear and comfortable vision.


Dr. Simmons is a member of the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society. Recognized as the highest honor for leadership a student of optometry can achieve, selection to the society is based on leadership, scholarship, and value to the class, college, and profession.

Dr. Simmons has been awarded the GPLI Contact Lens Clinical Excellence Award as well as the James and Patricia Short Fellowship award.

In June 2017 Dr. Simmons was selected as the Utah Young Optometrist of the Year due to his contributions to the profession locally and the clinical care of his patients. In 2018 he was nominated as the AOA National Young OD of the Year. 


Dr. Simmons served as the Executive Director of the Student Optometric Leadership Network, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides leadership and business training to current optometric students.

Dr. Simmons is also a contributing author for Optometric Insights.


When not in clinic, Dr. Simmons is spending his free time with his wife and kids. He especially enjoys anything Utah Jazz.
